Frédérique Loutz

Back to Artists

Born in 1974 in Sarreguemines, Frédérique Loutz lives and works in Marseilles Our first encounter took place in 2006, 3 days before she was leaving for a year-long fellowship in Rome at the Villa Medici. We continued working during that year and published our first book, "Hänsel & B-rätsel," during her stay in Italy. Two other important book projects followed; another is in the making. Our most ambitious work to date is "Anders," a collection of 10 miniature books, each printed on a single sheet of folded paper in combinations of lithography, woodcut, stamping, frottage, collage and linocut; each is inspired by different fairytales by Hans Christian Andersen. Most of our collaborations have been in lithography, although she has also experimented in woodcut, linoleum and, more recently, etching. In addition to our book projects, we have also published numerous individual works, some in monumental formats.
