Ivan Messac

French painter and sculptor Ivan Messac, born in 1948, is considered the youngest artist of the Figuration narrative group. Throughout the first year of my apprenticeship at the Bordas shop, Franck never let me to touch a roller to ink up a plate; I was strictly applying water to the lithographic matrix during printing, or resurfacing stones. Gradually, I was allowed to try, and finally pulled my first edition in late 1980: Messac’s "La roue," a small image of a lottery wheel. A few years later, we collaborated on a series of linocuts.
